VNY 2020 Secretariat & Turkish Airlines signs MoU
Kathmandu – Turkish Airlines and Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with conducting the formal program at Keiser Mahal Today. From the side of Turkish Airlines, General Manager, Mr. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi and National Coordinator of VNY 2020 campaign, Mr. Suraj Vaidya signed MoU.
After getting the agreement, the National Program Coordinator for VNY 2020, Mr. Suraj Vaidya, talked about the importance of air connectivity for a landlocked country like Nepal during the occasion. He also shared that the campaign is focusing on destinations with direct flights like Istanbul which also helps bring people to Nepal from other countries of Europe and beyond. He also stated that since many people use Turkish Airlines from all over the world to come to Nepal who doesn’t have direct flights, Turkish Airlines became a suitable partner for the campaign.
As an official airline partner of the VNY 2020 campaign, Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, the country manager of Turkish Airlines for Nepal said the airline company has been promoting Nepal as a tourism destination since the first day. “We wanted a Visit Nepal campaign for a few years now, especially after the earthquake of 2015 and the recovery process,” he shared during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the airlines and Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat. “Nepal has everything to offer to people who come here and there is this positive vibe about the country. There is already a background marketing for the country,” he shared also adding that the airlines have already been doing FAM trips to promote the country but now will aggressively market the campaign for 2020.
By signing the MoU, Turkish Airlines has agreed to promote the campaign in various travel marts and shows in collaboration with VNY 2020. As there has been no official agreement on culture and tourism as well as diplomatic missions between Turkey and Nepal, Mr. Vaidya also shared his hope that the support of the airlines for the campaign and having an increased number of tourists from Turkey during 2020 will help start the journey.
