58 Thousand Tourists Arrive in Khumbu Region

KATHMANDU- Trade unions in the tourism sector have demanded to make availability of vaccines against the coronavirus on a priority basis. Submitting a letter to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, they demanded to make the vaccines available by giving priority to high-risk areas.

With the arrival of spring, it is time for the increase in tourist activity in Nepal, so it has been demanded to give priority to the active manpower of this sector. It has been mentioned in the letter that as the tourism sector, which has been stalled for a long time due to Corona, seems to be in a comfortable position, the ministry should give priority to the manpower to be deployed in it.

It has been said that the workers in the tourism sector should be provided as much vaccination as possible as they have to reach various risky areas of the country. As about 20,000 tourism workers will be mobilized along with trekking guides, mountain guides, cooks, helpers, and porters, they have been urged to avoid any possible risk.

All Nepal Tourism Workers’ Union, Nepal Independent Tourism Workers’ Union, Socialist Tourism Workers’ Union, and Nepal Tourism Workers’ Union have jointly submitted the letter.
