A Portuguese-inspired tourist attraction is to be developed on Cingkuak Island in South Pesisir regency, West Sumatra province, in a bid to lure more visitors.

“The presence of a Portuguese fort on Cingkuak Island is a good start to develop Portuguese-inspired tourism,” said South Pesisir Regent Hendrajoni on Monday as quoted by Antara.

To support the plans, the administration is to restore the fort and build other Portuguese-style buildings in the area, which is part of the Carocok Painan Beach tourism complex.
