From March24-26, 2019, Federation of Nepalese Tourism Journalists (NEFTOJ) with jointly initiated Nepal Tourism Board NTB has conducted a training course on “Tourism Promotion Through Media: Tourism Journalism Training” attended by 50 professional journalists in Nepalgunj, Banke Nepal from different media houses ranging from TV, Radio, print newspaper and online news. Organizer manage rule to participants from the seven provinces.

The training aims to provide Nepalese journalists the investigative journalism techniques for reporting on the Tourism sector and to develop their capacity to produce quality investigative reports on Tourism Promotion & development issues.

During the training, the participants expressed that they have learned quite a lot from the senior trainers, lecturers, and experienced journalists in the country as well as from experts working in the Tourism, Hotel, hospitality and security sectors. As a result, the course was successfully completed with a smile from all participants who have gained and improved their understanding and knowledge on Tourism Promotion & development reporting.

Moreover, after the training, the participants are challenged to complete their Report and Digitalize reports they have started during the training within a month to be published by NEFTOJ.

The training inaugurated by Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Chief Minister of Karnali province has included 6 session focus on this topic and presented by as following Tourism policy and national tourism strategy 2016-2025, The Tourism and the Digital Transformation presented by Sunil Sharma, Senior Manager, Research, Planning & Monitoring of NTB. He has stated without entering into a digital platform, today’s journalism is not complete, knowledge on social media, SEO and has-tag best content writing are major and important tools for access to the digital era, though this destination promotion can do in zero cost. Tourism and Journalism by Durga Lal K.C. Hotel/Homestay and hospitality have presented by Indra Khadka, HAN. The trend of Global Tourism with connecting Journalism has presented by Dhaniram Sharma has said Journalist should focus on research, investigative and worldwide research knowledge make the factual reliable report. And next session The Sustainable Tourism Development was presented by Kamal Sigdel from UNDP. Sigdel disclosed his presentation to concern suitability of tourism development and the role of the journalist to inform and promote eco-friendly development. And Rana Bahadur Chand Retired AIG shared his experience on the topic Tourism Mutual Understanding peace and Security and Bishnu Sharma on the topic Tourism Journalism Reporting.

With ending training program, Program coordinator Sahas Nepane told that training and its recent feedback is not major, but after completing 3 days, how you can change on your writing skill is important, we hope the training will be the success on your career.
