Kathmandu – Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari has requested Chinese Culture and Tourism Minister Luo Shugang to open a way for national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to fly in two cities of China, Guangzhou and Shanghai. On his request, China’s Minister has also shown positive response towards the request and has agreed to proceed forward.
Luo Shugang, Minister of Culture, Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and team have arrived in Kathmandu on their official trip for four days in Nepal.
Even though the NAC had sought permission from the Chinese side several times to resume flights to Guangzhou, China, no progress has been made so far, according to officials. China is Nepal’s second largest source market for tourists after India. Earlier, the national flag carrier used to fly to Shanghai but was compelled to discontinue the route due to a lack of aircraft in 2008.
During the meeting, the two sides dwelt on deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, civil aviation, and culture, according to officials. The Chinese delegation will also meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during the visit.
