Nepal Tourism Board informed through press statement of 16th May 2019, four months aggregated tourist’s arrival Jan-April is sustained growth.
A total of 445,109 international tourists visited Nepal in the first four months (January-April) of 2019, a cumulative increase of 15.3 % over the same period in 2018. According to the Immigration Department (its offices) 362,840, international visitors came by air and 82,269 came overland in the first four months of 2019.

Tourist arrivals from India in the first four months of 2019 increased by 19.1% in comparison to the figures of the same period of 2018 and reached 44,827. Similarly, arrivals from Sri Lanka have increased by 55.17 % in comparison to the last year. However, arrivals from Bangladesh decreased by 33.5%. The overall arrivals from SAARC countries posted a sturdy growth of 19.22 % over the same period last year with 97,168 total tourist arrivals.

Likewise, 64,578 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in the first four months of 2019, which is 20.64% more than the arrivals in the same period of 2018. Similarly, the visitors from Thailand, South Korea, and Japan have also increased significantly by 43.1%, 7.18%, and 17.22% respectively in comparison to the figures for 2018.

As far as European source markets are concerned, total tourist arrival reached 85,027, a nominal growth of 2.73 % is recorded in January- April as compared to the same months last year. The arrival from the UK and Germany increased by 3.82% and 19.01% but the number of Spanish and French arrivals decreased by 8.21% and 2.6% respectively.

The number of US visitors to Nepal in the first four months of 2019 was 32,740, an increase of 10.8% over the figures of the same period last year. Likewise, the number of Australian visitors to Nepal in first four months of 2019 was 13,010, which is 3.3 % more than the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, 104,198 international visitors were recorded in April 2019, which is 5.6% more than the arrivals on the same month last year.
