Established in 2009, Samata has been widely recognized as a hub for Dalit studies and its contributions to enhancing equity, inclusion, and rights of marginalized groups in Nepal and South Asia region.

Purpose of position:
The Program Assistant serves as the assistant to the program unit within SAMATA that includes the program officers and logistical and administrative assistance to the wider office, when necessary. The Program Assistant liaises with Executive chairperson and all staff, requiring professional discretion and a solution-oriented approach at all times. The Program Assistant reports to the Executive Chairperson but works closely with Program coordinators and Officers.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the program Assistant will include
Adapt and develop Samata’s program development systems, policies, and procedures to evolve with Samata’s growth strategy and targets
Conduct daily searches for relevant funding opportunities
Analyze identified notices of funding opportunity (NOFOs)/requests for applications (RFAs) to determine alignment with Samata’s strategic plan and areas of expertise
Schedule and initiate go/no go decision meetings and drafts proposal timelines
Serve as key person on assigned proposal opportunities, which includes keeping proposal teams adherent to internal and external proposal deadline
Edit and draft proposals/applications as necessary, depending on strength of team and volume of submissions
Finalize and submit completed proposal packages
Conduct monthly reporting and provides regular analysis of Samata’s program development performance
Maintain and update Samata’s proposal documents ( full form and synopsis) Other duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social works or Development studies
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, social media and internet applications
- Excellent in oral and written in both English and Nepali language communication skills
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a high-level of attention to detail
- Able to read and interpret complex documents, and communicate information effectively to others, with strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
- Sound knowledge on Human rights, Affirmative Actions, and GESI principles
