Nepal’s Tourism Art Culture and Visit Nepal 2020 Promote in USA
Kathmandu – Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in coordination with Nepal Consulate General Office, New York and Nepalese American Foundation (NAF) organized the 4th Nepal American Festival 2019 – a Nepal Promotion Program on 15th July 2019 in New York, USA.
With the aim to promote Nepal’s tourism, art and culture and to disseminate information on Visit Nepal 2020, the event was successfully presented to the media, tour and travel agents and the travel trade fraternity of New York.
The program was divided into two sessions: the first session included destination presentation and the second session included a panel discussion with an interactive session with the audience.
Welcoming the invited guests, Mr. Pushpa Bhattarai, acting Consulate General of Nepal remarked that the program was organized to promote tourism of Nepal in New York. He thanked the audience for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend the program and requested all to make the Visit Nepal Year 2020 a grand success by disseminating information of the campaign as well as sending as many tourists as possible to Nepal.
The chief guest for the evening’s program Honorable Girirajmani Pokharel, Minister of Education thanked the organizers for organizing the event and promoting Nepal’s tourism in New York especially in light of the Visit Nepal campaign 2020. He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing infrastructure so that the tourism sector can prosper in the coming days. He cited the improvements and development of new airports, hotels and accommodations, homestays and other facilities to attract more tourists to visit Nepal. Minister Pokharel also urged the invited guests to visit Nepal and send people to Nepal in the coming days and years.
Senior Manager of NTB Mr. Diwakar Bickram Rana then made a presentation on the current tourism scenario of Nepal. He highlighted the various tourist attractions that Nepal has to offer as a premier holiday destination. He emphasized that Nepal is an all year round a holiday destination. Mr. Rana then gave comprehensive information on Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign. He highlighted the aim, focus and the various activities taken and to be taken by the VN Secretariat, Nepal Government, NTB and the private sector to make the campaign a success.
Professor Dr. Micheal Witzel, Harvard University then presented a comprehensive presentation of Nepal’s culture, art and heritage history. Dr. Witzel who stayed in Nepal in the 1970s is an expert in Nepal study, also shed light on various aspects of Nepal’s tourism.
After the first session, a panel discussion was held with on the topic “Nepal’s tourism, art and culture” and Visit Nepal 2020 being the focus of discussion. Mr. Guy John, curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ms. Elizabeth Chin, PATA New York chapter chairperson, Ms. Catherine Heald, co-founder and CEO of Remote Lands Inc joined Mr. Bhattarai. Mr. Rana and Prof Witzel for the panel discussion. Mr. Amit Shah, Event Organizer and Founder of Nepalese American Foundation moderated the discussion.
