Kathmandu – The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has started discussions on making it easier to operate international flights if certain conditions are met. Ministry plans to allow international flights once a week.

But the airlines are preparing to make it mandatory for passengers to undergo PCR testing and to be quarantined for 14 days at a hotel in Nepal. “After complaints from passengers about the high cost of charter flights to Nepal were raised, the ministry has started discussions on how to set conditions,” a ministry source said.
However, if it is confirmed that more than five passengers in any of the airlines coming to Nepal from abroad have been infected with corona during the inspection in Nepal, such airlines will be banned from flying for one week. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has demanded that various airlines be allowed to operate one flight a week.

The government has rescued the citizens stranded abroad through chartered flights since June 14. However, there is a demand for regular flights as airfare of chartered flight is expensive. They are criticizing the government for taking double rent even in difficult times as they have returned abroad in trouble. Although the Supreme Court has ordered to bring those who cannot buy tickets at the government’s expense, the government has not yet formulated the procedure. Lately, even Nepali ambassadors abroad have been urging to fly regularly by setting conditions.
