Nepal Participates in Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE) 2019

Kathmandu – Nepal TourismBoard (NTB) participated in 6th Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE) 2019 with an objective of promoting Nepal as an exotic Himalayan holiday destination for Life Time Experiences, organized in Emeishan of Sichuan Province of China by Sichuan Provincial Government and Leshan Municipal People’s Government from 6-9 September 2019.

Four core parts were planned for the expo, including display, trade, activity, and competition with themed as “Tourism and Culture Promote Each Other”. With 35000 sq. meters of exhibition area, there were eight exhibition zones including global boutique tourism zone, Chinese characteristic tourism zone, Sichuan superior tourism zone, tourism benefits people’s zone, Chinese Tourism Commodity Competition, cultural and tourism fusion zone, Leshan Gift and Tourism Carnival.

Several events and conferences were held during the expo including 2019 Chinese tourist commodity, opening ceremony, Emei Summit, Buyers / Sellers One to One Exchange Fair, global tourist attraction ceremony, etc. It has been estimated that over one thousand exhibitors and two lakhs visitors from 50 countries, 31 national cities visited this fair.

Highlighting Visit Nepal Year 2020, Nepal’s Stand at SCITE -2019 was well decorated with the aim to project Nepal as a premier holiday destination offering lifetime experience to the Chinese visitors. Chinese visitors, media and tour operators visited Nepal stand, queried about Nepal’s tourism attractions and gathered Nepal’s tourism information. And also, Nepal’s stand got a good promotional media coverage by Sichuan Television.

Honorable State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from Nepal, Mr. Dhan Bahadur Budha Magar also graced SCITE 2019 Inaugural Ceremony, other SCITE events and interacted with various high-level Sichuan Government Officials. Similarly, 15 Nepalese travel trade companies from Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) also were invited by the organizers so as to have B2B interaction with Chinese counterparts.

Mr. Gobinda Raj Oli, Manager and Mr. Yub Raj Gurung, Officer from Nepal Tourism Board participated in 6th SCITE- 2019. Nepal Tourism Board has been aggressively promoting Nepal in the Chinese market due to its immense tourism market prospects for the Nepalese tourism industry for the last decades.
