Kathmandu – Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has applauded the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) to demolish the illegal structures around Fewa Lake.
A joint bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justice Om Prakash Mishra, on Sunday, had ordered to demolish the illegal structures around the Fewa Lake.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, NEFEJ has assumed that the order from the apex court would stop the further land encroachment in the area.
“The government should no longer wait to execute the order from the Supreme Court as it does not have any other option to skip in implementing the verdict of the apex court”, the statement reads.
Stating that all three federal, province and local governments are equally responsible to stop the encroachment and to protect Fewa Lake, the NEFEJ has urged the government to retain the beauty of the lake following the implementing the verdict from the SC.
