NCTTM Honored Nisha First Bhote Woman Everest Summiter
Nepal College of Travel & Tourism Management (NCTTM) Honored First Bhote Woman Everest summiteer Nisha Bhote. She is a fourth-semester student of NCTTM studying Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM).
A 22-year-old woman from remote area Hatiya Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha district successfully scaled the world’s highest peak becoming the first woman from the Bhote community to stand on top of the world. She scaled Mt Everest at 11:15 am on May 23.
NCTTM felicitated Nisha and awarded a scholarship by waving off her fees for the remaining fifth and sixth semesters amounting to Two Lakh and Ten Thousand rupees. The award was handed by Chhaya Sharma founder Chairperson of NCTTM. While honoring Bhote, Sharma said that the success of Nisha resulted due to her hard work, courage, and dedication towards her goal. Which are a strong message to her colleagues and other young female climbers too.
Nisha shared her experience with teachers and students, expressing that her childhood dream was successful due to her father’s support and encouragement. She also said she wanted to draw attention to gender equality and women empowerment as well as the effects of climate change in the Himalayan region. Nisha further emphasized “If one is mentally strong determined and devoted to ones dream any tough task can be fulfilled.” At times there were climbers doubting her and teasing her but she said “I just smiled at them”
Pranesh Sharma, Principal of NCTTM together with other teachers congratulated Nisha Bhote and wished her all success for her future.
Taking with Nepalayatimes Jamling Bhote, father of Nisha said “she gave a message to the world that young women are equally capable and competent in performing adventurous activities as men, and I am proud with my daughter.”
