Kathmandu – The park was founded in 1967 to preserve the beauty of Lake Rara. The elevation of the park ranges from 1800 to 4048 m, which is exceedingly high, compared to the other lakes in the country. Chuchemara Lekh is the highest point. Most of the Rara National Park area including the popular Lake Rara lies in Mugu district and the remaining bit is in Jumla district. Rara National Park is the smallest park in Nepal (106 sq.m) but with the biggest lake (10.8sqm) in the country at an elevation of 2990 meters. The park does not receive more than 300 tourists in total even a year hence keeping the are away from exploitation and commercialization.
The park mainly contains coniferous forest and they are around the land is covered with blue pine and Ligurians(Rhododendron- the national flower of Nepal). Dark juniper/Himalayan spruce/Himalayan cypress and oak swathe the range delightfully.
The lake is likewise a perfect asylum for the musk deer, Himalayan dark brew, Goral, Jackal, and panthers. Snow rooster is the most well-known flying creature found in the territory.
