Itahari – A bomb was hurled at a moving bus this afternoon along the Dharan-Itahari road section of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-4, Dharan.
An unidentified person threw the explosive at a bus bearing registration Me 1 Kha 2734 en route to Kakadbhitta from Dharan. Three-year-old Helen Gautam of Dharan-16 has sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, driver of the bus, said that someone threw an incendiary and it went off with a loud bang after colliding with the outer part of the bus. Police Inspector Rajan Karki of Area Police Office, Itahari, said that investigation into the case is underway.
As the Nepal Communist Party (Biplav group) enforced a strike today in order to pile pressure on the government for the release of its cadres, the cadres of the same outfit are suspected responsible for the blast.
