Equal Air Fares for Foreigners and Nepalese

Equal Air Fares for Foreigners and Nepalese Nepalayatimes Pokhara - Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has said that the fares for foreigners and Nepalese on domestic flights will be the same. Minister Bhattarai, who attended the Literature Festival in Pokhara, said this while speaking at an interaction. He informed that the government has been consulting with the airlines' company to adjust the fares. "I am planning to maintain the same fare with the agreement of all," Minister Bhattarai said, adding that in any country of the world, there will be no separate fare for foreigners and local, and neither will Nepal. Earlier, Minister Bhattarai had formed a task force to study the different air fares. According to the Taskforce study, foreign nationals have to pay nearly double the cost of traveling to Nepal compared to Nepali. Cause of that is establishing Nepal as an expensive destination. The task force formed by the government has been suggested to eliminate costly tariffs for foreigners and equalize them. The government had formed a task force under the chairmanship of former secretary Sureshman Shrestha, to advise on the problems of the aviation sector. The task force suggested removing the dollar fair and maintaining the same fare rate. Foreign diplomatic commission and diplomats have also been interested in unequal fare rates. Tourism entrepreneurs have been demanding that the package be provided to the tourists by announcing a reduction in the dollar fair in the context of Nepal celebrating the Visit Nepal Year. However, the airline operators are in favor of not removing the dollar fair. The companies claim that this will result in loss of profits and difficulty in operating the services.
